Turning the Plane into an Exhibit

Even before Ship 6301’s retirement from Delta’s fleet in September 2015, the Delta Flight Museum prepared to create a final berth for this historic aircraft. First stop was Delta’s Technical Operations Center (TOC) where she got a final paint job and a major interior overhaul to facilitate future visitors. The next step was a major move on April 30, 2016, from the runway of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to Delta’s parking lot. Once the construction of concrete pads were completed, Ship 6301 rolled one last time into place. Soon after, construction of the elevator tower, surrounding plaza, and the plane's interior exhibitions began. The plane will be open to Museum visitors beginning March 28, 2017.
